THESE Four Lectures are called "Crumbs," for such they will be found, being principally intended for teachers and occasional preachers (supplies); as, knowing that there are many persons thus engaged, and fearing they have but little time for research, it has occurred to me to gather together what different writers have said on some of the alterations that have been made in our New Testament; as well as upon some of the more difficult passages found therein. At the same time there are a few hints or suggestions which it is hoped will be helpful, by enabling all such persons to feed the flock in that abundant pasture spoken of by the Lord (John x. 9, marg.). But it will be as well to make use of an Introduction to the Knowledge of Holy Scripture, for much that is to be found in such a work as that published by the Sunday School Union is here purposely omitted. |
