Micaiah's prophecy.

Ahab is flat.

I. KINGS. king of Ifrael, Enquire, I pray thee, 20 And the LORD faid, Who fhall at the word of the LORD to day. perfuade Ahab, that he may go up 6 Then the king of Ifrael gathered and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one the prophets together, about four hun-faid on this manner, and another faid dred men, and faid unto them, Shall on that manner. go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or thall I forbear? And they faid, Go up; for the LORD fhall deliver it into the hand of the king.

7 And Jehoshaphat faid, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD befides, that we might enquire of him?

21 And there came forth a spirit, and flood before the LORD, and faid, I will perfuade him.

22 And the LORD faid unto him, Wherewith? And he faid, I will go forth, and I will be a lying fpirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And hefaid, Thou shalt perfuade bim, and prevail alfo: go forth, and do fo.

8 And the king of Ifrael faid unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the fon of imlah, by whom 23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD we may enquire of the LORD: but I hath put a lying spirit in the mouth hate him; for he doth not prophefy of all thefe thy prophets, and the good concerning me, but evil. 17 And he faid, I faw all Ifrael fcattered upon the hills, as fheep that have not a fhepherd: and the LORD faid, Thefe have no mafter: let them return every man to his houfe in peace.

18 And the king of Ifrael faid unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophefy no good concerning me, but evil?

19 And he fair, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I faw the LORD Atting on his throne, and all the hoft of heaven ftanding by him on his right hand and on his left."

30 And the king of Ifrael faid unto Jehoshaphat, I will difguife myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Ifrael difguiled himself, and went into the battle.

31 But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, faying, Fight neither with fmall nor great, fave only with the king of Ifrael.

32 And it came to pafs, when the captains of the chariots faw Jebofhaphat, that they faid, Surely it is the king of Ifrael. And they turned afide to fight againft him: and Jehoshaphat

cried out.

33 And it came to país, when the captains of the chariots, perceived that it was not the king of Ifrael, that they turned back from pursuing him.

34 And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and fmote the king of Ifrael between the joints of the har nefs: wherefore he faid unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the hoft; for 1 am wounded.

35 And the battle increased that day: and the king was ftayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran ett

CHAP. 1.

THEN Moab rebelled againft Ifrael after the death of Ahab. 2 And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was fck: and he fent meffengers, and faid into theul, Ge, enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron whether 1 fhall recover of this difeafe.

5 but the angel of the LORD faid to Elijah the Tifhbite, Arife, go up to meet the meffengers of the king of Samaria, and fay unto them, Is it not beraufe there is not a God in Ifrael, thu se go to enquire of Baal- zebub the god of Ekron?

4 Now therefore thus faith the LORD, Thou fhalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but halt furely die. And Elijah departed.

5And when the meffengers turned back unto him, he faid unto them, Why are ye now turned back?

6 And they faid unto him, There Came a man up to meet us, and faid

9 Then the king fent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he fat on the top of an hill. And he ipake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath faid, Come down.

CHAP. III. A miraculous fupply of water.

23 And he went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and faid unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

24 And he turned back, and look. ed on them, and curfed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two the bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

25 And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.

CHAP. III.

Now Jehoram the fon of Ahab be

gan to reign over Ifrael in Samaria the eighteenth year of Jeho fhaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

2 And he wrought evil in the fight of the LORD; but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of Baal that his father had de.

3 Neverthelefs he cleaved unto the Sas of Jeroboam the fon of Nebat, which made Ifrael to fin; he departed

not therefrom.

4 And Metha king of Moab was a heep mafter, and rendered unto the king of Ifrael an hundred thousand lambs, and an hundred thousand rams, with the wool.

But it came to pafs, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Ifrael.

II But Jehofhaphat fajd, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of ifrael's fervants answered and faid, Here is Elisha the fon of Shaphat, which puured water on the hands of Elijah.

12 And Jehofhaphat faid, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of Ifrael and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

13 And Elifna faid unto the king of Ifrael, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Ifrael faid unto him, Nay: for the LORD hath called thefe three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

14 And Elisha faid, As the LORD of hofts liveth, before whom I fland, furely, were it not that I regard the prefence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor fee thee.

15 But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pafs when the min ftrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.

16 And he said, Thus faith the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches.

17 For thus faith the LORD, Ye fhall not fee wind, neither thall ye fee rain; yet that valley fhall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beatts.

18 And this is but a light thing in the light of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites alfo into your hand.

19 And ye shall fmite every fenced city, and every choice city, and fhall fell every good tree, and ftop all wells of water, and mar every good piece of land with ftones.

20 And it came to pafs in the morning, when the meat offering was offered, that, behold, there came wa ter by the way of Edum, and the country was filled with water.

21 And when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to And king Jehoram went out fight against them, they gathered all of Samaria the fame time, and num-that were able to put on arniour, and bered all Ifrael. upward, and food in the border."

5 So the went from him, and hut the door upon her and upon her fons, who brought be vefels to her; and the poured out.

6 And it came to pafs, when the veffels were full, that the faid unto her fon, Bring me yet a veffel. And he faid unto her, There is not a velel more. And the oil ftayed.

7 Then he came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, fell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the reft.

8 And it fell on a dae, that Elisha paffed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and the constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he pulled by, he turned in thither to eat bread.

9 And the faid unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which pafleth by us continually.

10 Let us make a little chamber, pray thee, on the wall: and let us fet for him there a bed, and a table, and a fool, and a candiestick; and it shall be, when he cometh to us that he fhall turn in thither.

11 And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there.

18 ¶ And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers.

19 And he faid unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother.

20 And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he fat on her knees till noon, and then died,

21 And the went up,and laid h.mon the bed of the man of God, and that the door upon him, and went out.

22 And the called unto her husband, and faid, send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the affes, that may run to the man of God, and come again.

23 And he faid, Wherefore wilt them go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor fabbath. And the faid, It ball be well.

hand, and go thy way: if thou weet any man, falute him not; and Many falute thee, answer him not againi
