At the Quarterly Meeting held Feb. 4, 1840, it was resolved, "That the Secretaries of the Bucks Board, and of the Windsor and Eton Church Union Society, as well as of the Archidiaconal and Local Boards in the diocese, be considered members of the Diocesan Board."

Quarterly Meetings of the Diocesan Board are held in Oxford on the first Tuesdays in February, May, August, and November. When either of these days in any year are appointed by the Church to be kept holy, the Secretary will fix some other convenient day, of which due notice will be given.

REPORT.

It is with deep feelings of responsibility that the Diocesan Board of Education proceed a second time to render an account of the trust that has been reposed in them. They were conscious indeed from the beginning that the work on which they were entering was of the highest moment. But in the absence of all experience a degree of vagueness necessarily attached itself to their ideas. The result of two years' labours has been to render those ideas far more distinct and definite. In precisely the same proportion has the conviction been strengthened of the wisdom which first suggested the extension of Education by Diocesan organization. Moreover the abundance of success with which their operations have been blessed, as well beyond their deservings, as, they desire to confess, above their most sanguine expectations, has tended materially to deepen the feelings of responsibility under which they act; for they are reminded that to whom much is given of them will much be required. Again, though by the terms of their constitution they necessarily seem only to be the representatives and nominees of the Subscribers, they cannot but feel that acting under Episcopal Presidency, and formed upon the outline of a Diocesan, and Parochial Ministry, they are and desire to consider themselves, directly the agents of the Church. If then circumstances compel them to seem to address themselves in this Report formally and immediately to Subscribers only, they do virtually hold themselves responsible under God, and
